There goes my baby

about

After having viewed Ikitan on Friday, with two acoustic acts opening for this great rock band, I thought I'd release a live solo recording. It's just one AKG C1000S microphone for both the guitar, a 1977 Mossman Great Plains, and an even older voice. It's Americana, about traveling from the Puget Sound to the Carolinas. It's got highways, trains, of course, trees, wind, a lost love and hope. It's a song.

lyrics

There goes my baby

Along the highway that stretches wide
Left my woman, lost my pride
Boxcar sings its uneasy ride

In Washington, I closed my place
Left no note, not a trace
Didn’t even hang around to see her face
There goes my baby

They say that love conquers all
Even if the problem is ten feet tall
But I just laughed, I was having a ball.
But now a kiss is what I miss
Given to times like this
But even now I’d still resist, so
There goes my baby

Before I left her flat she was talking too fine
About a Puget Sound view and expensive wine, but
I knew that ball and chain would be the keyless kind

Now the Santa Fe or Baltimore & Ohio
Takes me where I’ve got to go, but
Where that is, I still don’t know
There goes my baby

They say that love conquers all
Even if the problem is ten feet tall
But I just laughed, I was having a ball.
But now a kiss is what I miss
Given to times like this
But even now I’d still resist, so
There goes my baby

Now the western wind, through the western pines
Pushes east down this railroad line
When I make the Carolinas I’ll be doin’ fine

Along the highway that stretches wide
Left my woman, lost my pride
Boxcar sings its uneasy ride
There goes my baby
There goes my baby
There goes my baby
